Fight For Relief in Japan This Weekend

The recent earthquake, tsunami and nuclear plant meltdown has created a tragedy beyond belief in Japan that has taken tens of thousands of lives and misplaced hundreds of others.

Many Japanese citizens are without supplies or shelter and are in dire need of aid. Among the many who have answered the call, gamers have stepped up as well. Now several of gamings’ finest players are teaming up to host a charity event called “Fight For Relief” to raise aid for Japan.

DEVASTATION Brings MvC3 Tournament to Gotham City

The DEVASTATION team announced via their Facebook page on Monday that they would be hosting a Marvel vs. Capcom 3 tournament at of Gotham City Comics in Mesa.

The event is set to take place on April 9. Lost Bot Productions and the DEVASTATION crew will be operating a 64-player bracket tournament with no entry fees and Gotham City Comics giftcards as prizes for the top players.

Tournament List for Connichiwa Released: Game on!

The upcoming Connichiwa anime convention in Tucson will once again have Arizona Hobbyists Paradise there to entertain all manner of gamers. AZHP officially released the tournament list for the convention on Monday with the details on all of their competitions.

Uncharted 3 Villainess Unleashed To The World

At last weeks’ Game Developers Conference in San Fransisco the Naughty Dog team showed off Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception gameplay, story details, and cinematic footage in their event. On Tuesday Sony officially unleashed the previewed cinematic cutscene to the world.

The trailer unveils Drake’s newest adversary, Katherine Marlowe. Marlowe (whose voice actor is unknown as of yet) is apparently apart of an English secret society with ties to the royal court, according to a recent Playstation blog post. Marlowe already appears to know Drake and Sully well from past run-ins and believes that she is the rightful owner of Sir Francis Drake’s ring (as opposed to Nathan who says he’s a direct descendant).

Panasonic Cancels ‘Jungle’ Gaming System

Electronics company Panasonic announced on Tuesday that their massively multiplayer online handheld system called the Jungle was officially cancelled.

The project was stopped due to a reported “changes in the market and our own strategic direction” according to a press statement by the company.

The system was unveiled last October by the company and was planned to cater specifically to MMO games on the go. A Battlestar Galactica Online title was specifically featured as a part of the reveal among other things.

The cancellation of the project doesn’t appear to come off as much of a surprise to the gaming community, as many had their doubts about Panasonic re-entering the video game system market again.
