U.S. Supreme Court Ruling on Proposed Videogame Ban (the breakdown)

The United States Supreme Court released their decision on Brown v. Entertainment Merchants Association Monday, regarding a proposed act by California to create a new regulation on videogames to minors.

The measure called for particularly violent games to be sold only to consumers 18 or older (or a minor with a parent present) and effectively issue civil fines of up to $1000 for anyone in violation of the act. The court ruled 7-2 against the act, with Justices Breyer and Thomas dissenting.

Tournament Triple Threat This Weekend

The DEVASTATION crew are planning not one, not two, but three tournaments to take place over the weekend and bleeding into Monday all over the valley.


Kicking off the weekend proper will be their Mortal Kombat tournament held at Gotham City Comics in Mesa. The competition will be free to enter with registration opening at 2 p.m. and the action starts at 3 p.m. The tournament will be double-elimination and capped at 64 players; the game will be played on PS3. The new art gallery and retro arcade in downtown Phoenix called CADE Gallery is slowly but surely building up regular events for gamers to turn to this summer.

Just Might Have Lost The Spark: an inFAMOUS 2 Review

Sucker Punch’s latest addition to the inFAMOUS saga released on Tuesday and follows Cole McGrath as he travels to New Marais in preparation for his upcoming battle with The Beast. The Pause Button’s IncreaseBlue was able to get a first look at the game and offers her review below:

Sucker Punch may have delivered a blow to themselves in trying to follow up what I have proclaimed a PS3-exclusive masterpiece known as the first inFAMOUS game. While the original inFAMOUS wasn’t without its flaws, it had plenty to offer with exploration, a sci-fi plot, and likeable characters, whether you were good or bad in your play through.
