Countdown to DEVASTATION, get your practice in!

The huge DEVASTATION event is a mere two weeks away and this Saturday will yield a nice platter of events for Arizona gamers to get in the last smidgens of practice before the big competitions kick off.

First off is Team Haz-Mat with their DEVASTATION Boot Camp event on Saturday. The boot camp is $5 for a venue fee and $5 entry fee for each tournament being held at Team Haz-Mat‘s spot in Laveen. Competitions will start at 7 p.m. with Marvel vs. Capcom 3, then continue with Street Fighter III: Third Strike at 9 p.m., and finish up with Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition at 10 p.m. Read the rest of this entry »





Double Time! (Gaming This Weekend in AZ)

This week in AZ has experienced a bit of a lull compared to previous ones as far as events go, but that never means there’s any shortage on competitive spirit and gaming going on!

Fight! Fight! And Answer Questions Too! (Gaming This Week in AZ)

This week is filled with a nice clash of intellect as well as brawn with several tournaments and a trivia challenge peppering the valley.

[UPDATE] The DEVASTATION team pushed their Fight Night event back to August 5th instead of having it on July 22.

Spiderman has brawn and brains, just not enough combos.

Starting off the action is Cade Gallery and Old School Arcade with their monthly video game trivia on Thursday hosted by PhoenixGamer’s own Mel, the Office Gamer Girl. The trivia is set to kick off at 7 p.m. with promises mind-numbingly difficult questions about obscure video games and characters. Prizes include Bookman’s gift cards and a special Cade (swag) Bag for the winners.

DEVASTATION announces ranbats at MvC3 event

The DEVASTATION midnight release party for Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds went well received Monday night. Dozens of gamers showed up in attendance for the chance to play the game a few hours before release and win some swag from challenges.

DEVASTATION team to run MvC3 midnight release event

The team members behind the massive multi-game tournament event, DEVASTATION, will be running a midnight release event for the upcoming tag-team fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds in February.

 

The DEVASTATION team are gearing up to celebrate the latest MvC installment.

DEVASTATION, along with Best Buy and Lost Bot Productions, will be hosting a pre-release event at a Best Buy store located at 13711 West Bell Road in Surprise on February 14th. Festivities and games will start at 5 p.m. and will go all the way to the stroke of midnight when attendees can purchase or pick up preorders of the game. Read the rest of this entry »





A look into the future: 2011 games to get excited for

Last week The Pause Button took a look into the past. Now we look into the future and what titles gamers should at least perk up at, if not get downright giddy for.

Lost In Shadow (Wii)

Reminiscent of the surprisingly good Xbox Live title Limbo, Lost in Shadow is an upcoming Wii title in which Dow, the shadow of a young boy, becomes separated with his host body and has to climb an evil tower to free the shadows of the dead. This game looks promising as the environments are comprised of shadows cast by foreground environments and it allows the players to adjust light sources and manipulate the shadows for Dow to move along.  Lost in Shadow is slated to be released on January 1, 2011.
