After a much needed holiday break, local gamers are ready to tear into a few new titles and stave off the could with a few friendly matches. This week the action will be taking place in Tempe for the most part.

Spiral Series Killer Instinct free play

-The Spiral Series crew are hosting a friendly session of Killer Instinct this Friday at 8 p.m. at the Gaming Zone in Tempe.

-The event is free to all and meant to encourage new and old members of the fighting game community to help each other learn the new game.

AZ Bar Battles this weekend

Arizona’s own rendition of bar fights is going to pit some of the state’s finest players against each other, with a few drinks and grudge matches to spare. 

More changes and events incoming for AZHP Gaming

For those of you that follow the local group AZHP Gaming, you may have noticed an increase of activity from the crew. This is due in part to several major changes being taken by the groups’ founder FrankCastleAZ. In an interview with the Pause Button last week, Frank announced that he was taking on the business of AZHP on a permanent basis, leaving his regular day job behind.

The changeover comes with a more aggressive schedule for the group, as several upcoming events with different venues have been confirmed in the last few days. Most notably, AZHP’s team up with the Microsoft Store in Scottsdale for a Call of Duty: Black Ops II tournament this Saturday.

As January comes to a close, February gives way to a fun start for fighting games. If you’re not pent up in your house practicing every facet of Soul Calibur V, then there’s a couple events for your radar this weekend.

Fighters! Get in on the AZ Competitions This Weekend!

Spring is in full swing and with it, tons of awesome competitions are popping up. The DEVASTATION team will be holding two tournaments in the next few days, one on Saturday and another Monday night.

DEVASTATION are hitting up a different comic shop this weekend, Samurai Comics to be exact. The team is hosting a Marvel vs. Capcom 3 tournament on Saturday at the 1051 East Camelback Road store location.

DEVASTATION team to run MvC3 midnight release event

The team members behind the massive multi-game tournament event, DEVASTATION, will be running a midnight release event for the upcoming tag-team fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds in February.

 

The DEVASTATION team are gearing up to celebrate the latest MvC installment.

DEVASTATION, along with Best Buy and Lost Bot Productions, will be hosting a pre-release event at a Best Buy store located at 13711 West Bell Road in Surprise on February 14th. Festivities and games will start at 5 p.m. and will go all the way to the stroke of midnight when attendees can purchase or pick up preorders of the game.
