There is a nice mix of FPS and fighting game tournaments happening to fulfill your brisk fall weekend. Read more below to see the competitive throwdowns being hosted by Spiral Series Entertainment and AZHP Gaming.

Spiral Series ranbats at the Gaming Zone

-Three tournaments kicking off on Saturday at 12 p.m. at The Gaming Zone in Tempe.

-$5 entry fee per tournament (including Super Street Fighter 4: AE, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and Street Fighter x Tekken), as well as a $5 organizational fee. 

-Winners will get a split of the game pot, as well as points to overall ranking in the season.

This week and weekend are absolutely jam packed with gaming stuff to do for all sorts. No sense in dilly-dally, let’s get started!

Future Is Games convention in Phoenix

-Starts Wednesday and goes till Friday at the Phoenix Convention Center.

-FREE to attend and will host a slew of guest speakers presenting indie games, developer stories and more (including Arizona’s own MegaRan!).

More changes and events incoming for AZHP Gaming

523966_306565739421761_902147460_nFor those of you that follow the local group AZHP Gaming, you may have noticed an increase of activity from the crew. This is due in part to several major changes being taken by the groups’ founder FrankCastleAZ. In an interview with the Pause Button last week, Frank announced that he was taking on the business of AZHP on a permanent basis, leaving his regular day job behind.

The changeover comes with a more aggressive schedule for the group, as several upcoming events with different venues have been confirmed in the last few days. Most notably, AZHP’s team up with the Microsoft Store in Scottsdale for a Call of Duty: Black Ops II tournament this Saturday. Read the rest of this entry »





AZHP at Amazing AZ Con and Black Ops II tourney this weekend

For all those who have been waiting for gaming competitions to ratchet up, some tournament action has finally turned up for the last weeks of January courtesy of AZHP Gaming and Fix & Play.

AZHP Gaming will be hosting several tournaments and casual play in their gaming room for this years’ Amazing Arizona Comic Con. The convention will take place at the Phoenix Convention Center on Friday the 25th through the 27th. 

Their tournament schedule will be noticeably lighter compared to their other events, but it means plenty of time will be allotted for the competitions that are run. Their schedule is hemmed down to a Halo 4 (2v2 teams) tournament on Friday at 4 p.m., on Saturday a Super Street Fighter IV: AE (2012 ver.) competition at 12 p.m. and an Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 tournament at 3 p.m., and finally a Call of Duty Black Ops II (2v2 teams) tournament at 12 p.m. on Sunday.

blackopiiTickets for the con vary from $25 single day passes for Friday and Sunday, $35 single day passes for Saturday, or $50 for a full weekend pass. The AZHP Gaming crew will offer up prizes such as Boson sunglasses, a controller from Evil Controllers, Aqua Red t-shirts, or a prize pack from the University of Advancing Technology. 

Not to be left out of the fun, the folks at the Fix & Play location on 83rd Ave. and Camelback Rd. will be hosting a Call of Duty: Black Ops II tournament on Saturday. The details on the actual game format are unknown, but the competition will kick off at 5 p.m. and the winner will net themselves $60 store credit. AZHP Gaming kicks in the new year at Taiyou Con

For those who aren’t sure how to dig into 2013, AZHP Gaming has got a solution. The entire crew will be running a gaming room with multiple tournaments at this weekends’ Taiyou Con in Mesa.

Taiyou Con is an anime convention that will be held at the Hilton Phoenix/East Mesa hotel on January 4-6. The convention will feature numerous anime-related guests such as Sonny Strait, Christina Vee, and many more. Alongside all of the anime programming, the good folks with AZHP Gaming will be running another one of their gaming rooms for attendees. 

Over the weekend, the crew will be hosting a slew of tournaments for some awesome sponsored prizes from Boson, Aqua Red, UAT,and Evil Controllers:
