Tournament Triple Threat This Weekend

21 06 2011

The DEVASTATION crew are planning not one, not two, but three tournaments to take place over the weekend and bleeding into Monday all over the valley.

Kicking off the weekend proper will be their Mortal Kombat tournament held at Gotham City Comics in Mesa. The competition will be free to enter with registration opening at 2 p.m. and the action starts at 3 p.m. The tournament will be double-elimination and capped at 64 players; the game will be played on PS3.

It is highly recommended that players bring their own arcade sticks or controllers. Prizes will include a $50 Gotham City Comics gift certificate for first place, $30 certificate for second, $15 certificate for third, and $5 certificates for fourth through eighth placing players.

Sunday will play host to the DEVASTATION Marvel vs. Capcom 3 ranbats at LAN Speed Games in Peoria. This is the 5th battle of the schedule 8 for the season, so it’s not too late to join in on the fun.

The tournament is $1 to play with ranking points going to the 1st through 5th placing players to be tallied at the end of the season. Registration opens at 12 p.m. with matches starting at 1 p.m. and the game will be played on Xbox 360 (it is encouraged that players bring their own controllers/fightsticks).

Finally, on Monday night the DEVASTATION crew will be hosting a midnight release party for Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition at the Microsoft Store in Scottsdale.

The festivities will begin at 9 p.m. with casual games and giveaways along with a SSFIV:AE 64-player bracket tournament. This competition will be single elimination and played on the Xbox 360, with the first through third place winners taking home a copy of the game for 360.
