DEV comes back with Madden tourney next week

January may be taking a little while to gain its gaming momentum, but that doesn’t mean there’s no fun to be had! This Sunday, the DEVASTATION crew will be hosting  a Madden NFL 13 tournament in Phoenix.

The DEVASTATION crew, in conjunction with the 98 KUPD radio station, will be running a huge single-elimination tournament for Madden NFL 13 at Stand Up Live in downtown Phoenix. The tournament has already slotted 98 competitors through pre-registration, but will be taking another 98 competitors the day of the event on a first come, first served basis. Cade Gallery Closes its Doors

The folks at Cade Gallery announced on Tuesday that they would be closing their doors by the end of this week. According to a Phoenix New Times article posted today by Benjamin Leatherman, owners Nathan Ross and Weston Henry confirmed that Cade Gallery would be closing due to financial issues.

IncreaseBlue’s Phoenix Comicon Re-cap

The 2011 Phoenix Comicon took place over the weekend at the Phoenix Convention Center. The event included many geek and pop culture stars such as George Takei, Leonard Nimoy, Vic Mignogna, and many others.

Among the many different anime, geek, comic, sci-fi and steam punk-themed festivities, there were also numerous video game tournaments and panels to be had at the convention. The Pause Button’s own IncreaseBlue attended and covered the event, she offers her thoughts on the event below.

The upcoming Phoenix Comicon set for Memorial Day weekend is undoubtedly packed with hundreds of hours of programming for every geek interest, but there’s also a good handful of events for gamers as well.
