Rain or shine, tourneys happening this weekend!

10 09 2013

Even though the weather has been rainy, none of the gaming action in the Valley has been dampened down. There’s a good lot of events this week, starting off with the fine folks at the Phoenix Art Museum.

If you don’t already know, the Phoenix Art Museum is hosting the Smithsonian’s Art of Video Games exhibit till the end of the month. (If you haven’t checked it out already, do so because it is sweet!) In conjunction with this exhibit, they are holding a high score tournament on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Details are a bit murky as to what game and/or if prizes will be involved, but the tournament is for ages 21 and under. If anything else, it’s a great excuse to get out of the house, check out the exhibit and have some fun!

Keeping the action going is Euphoria Gaming with their Guilty Gear AC+ and DOA5 Ultimate competition on Saturday at 2 p.m at the University of Advancing Technology. There will be no entry fees, with prizes of $100 for Guilty Gear and $60 for DOA5U split among the top three placers of each tournament.

On the same day the AZHP Gaming crew will be hosting their Tekken Tag 2 and Street Fighter x Tekken tournaments at the Gaming Zone in Tempe. The event will have a $2 venue fee and a $3 entry fee per tournament with a 60/30/10 pot split among the winners.

The competition will start off at 12 p.m. and will also include a raffle for prizes. For specific game rules, check out the AZHP Gaming website
