This is It! happening this weekend!

30 10 2012

If you somehow missed our initial reports, the event commemorating Ed Farias’ departure from Arcade-in-a-Box dubbed ‘This is It!’ will be happening this weekend in Tucson.

The event will draw some of Arizona’s greatest players for several tournaments, including Latif and several other guests. If you’re unable to attend, there are still some gaming opportunities closer to Phoenix available this weekend as well.

The ‘This is It!’ event officially kicks off on Friday at 12 p.m for registration and will include King of Fighters XIII, Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition (2012 ver.), Persona 4: Arena, and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 tournaments over the entire weekend.

Players and attendees can register online. The “player pass,” which covers entry into all tournaments over the weekend is $30, while per tournament registration fees are $10. There is also an “casuals only” option for $20 and spectator passes are $10 at the door. Prizes include numerous Madcatz tournament edition sticks and Tritton headsets, as well as 70/20/10 pot splits for each tournament.

Special guest players who will be at the event competing will include Peter Rosas (a.k.a. Combofiend), Latif, and Cesar de Alba (a.k.a. MonGoloRoboKop). For those who cannot attend, all the action will be streamed by Team Hazmat.

Aside from ‘This is It!‘, there will be other gaming opportunities closer to the Phoenix area. Fix and Play Video Games will be hosting a free Modern Warfare 3 tournament on Saturday at their location on 83rd Ave. and Camelback.

Details are scarce, but the tournament is set to kick off at 4 p.m. with the first place winner getting $60 store credit to the establishment. Check out their official Facebook event page for more info.

The DEVASTATION crew will be at work again with their huge Halo 4 Monday night launch event at the Microsoft Store in the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall.

There will be apparent tournaments, raffles and free food throughout the evening count down till Master Chief lands on the shelves. There will also be an apparent free concert put on by 8-bit rapper MegaRan among all the festivities. More details can be found on the event’s Facebook page.
