IncreaseBlue’s Saboten Con guide for gamers (2012 ver.)

28 08 2012

The wait for the Saboten Con is slowly ticking down as the convention looms ahead jam-packed with events. As always, The Pause Button’s very own IncreaseBlue has created a guide for gamers in attendance to make sure they don’t miss out on any of the awesome programming highlights.

This year’s Saboten Con is a sort of mecca for gamers as it will not only play host to Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka, but several other notable video game voice actors and guests. While all voice actors and guests will have their own panels or participation, there are a handful of other events that might catch the attention of some gamers.

Gamers can relive their nostalgia with thrilling tunes at the Silent Hill concert.

Silent Hill concert – (Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Room: Solana E)

One of the most notable events of the convention will kick it off. Akira Yamaoka, Mary McGlynn, and Troy Baker all play a part in this one-hour (possibly longer) concert full of the chilling music that terrified so many gamers as they explored the town of Silent Hill.

Final Fantasy Steampunk Ball – (Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Room: Solana E)

Generally the big dances and raves are something left off of these guides, but given the opportunity to see a geared-out Sephiroth or Kefka, we just couldn’t pass this up.

Anime/Video Game Confessional – (Saturday at 9:00 p.m. Room: Solana B)

Hosted by Pixel Blind, this panel gives gamers and otaku alike a chance to admit their darkest secrets of never playing a classic game like Zelda or simply get some suggestions for good series to dive into.

How to Hunt for MMO’s – (Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Room: Cascade F)

If you’ve ever been a little daunted by the massiveness of World of Warcraft or just want to try out an MMO, this panel will give you all the details for the best massive multiplayer experience.

Diving into a massive multiplayer online game can sometimes be a bit overwhelming. Lucky there are some panels to address this.

Dan Hibiki’s Saikyo Ryo Dojo – (Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Room: Solana H)

A surprisingly entertaining panel from last Saboten Con, attendees are invited to participate in training under Street Fighter’s finest warrior: Dan Hibiki himself!

The Tetris Movie! – (Saturday at 9:00 p.m. Room: Cira A)

A screening of the film Ecstasy of the Order: The Tetris Masters followed up by a question-and-answer period with guest Christophe Tang. If you thought Tetris was just a casual game, think again!
