AZHP At Anime Kaigi This Weekend

Local boys Arizona Hobbyists’ Paradise are back with some mass gaming and tournaments up North as a part of the Anime Kaigi convention in Flagstaff starting on Friday and ending on Sunday.

Anime Kaigi will take place in the du Bois Center of the Northern Arizona University and will include various anime, sci-fi, and gaming events for all attendees.

AZHP will be primarily running the gaming side of the convention, with casual setups running for various fighting games, Mario Kart, Rock Band 3, Dance Dance Revolution, and more. On the competition side of things, AZHP will be running several tournaments throughout the weekend.

On Friday, competitions kick off at noon starting with Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, then Halo: Reach at 2 p.m., Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition at 5 p.m. and Mortal Kombat ending the night at 8 p.m.

Things keep the fighting spirit going on Saturday with an Arcana Heart 3 tournament at noon, then moving onto combo-breaking action with Marvel vs. Capcom 3 at 2 p.m., followed by Super Smash Bros. Brawl at 5 p.m. and Call of Duty: Black Ops finishing the day off at 8 p.m.

Sunday is noticeably more quiet with only Blazblue: Continuum Shift at 12 p.m. and Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution 3 at 2 p.m. making the last of the tournaments before the convention is officially finished.

AZHP will run the gaming room at the convention from 6 p.m. to midnight on the Thursday preview night, bright and early at 10 a.m. till midnight for both Friday and Saturday, and rounding things up from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Anime Kaigi tickets are currently $40 for a three-day pass (which bumps up to $45 at the door day of), $25 apiece for single-day Saturday or Friday passes, and only $20 for a single-day Sunday pass. Tickets can be purchased at the door or on the Anime Kaigi website.
