Developers Team Up With Sony To Welcome Back Users

17 05 2011

As most gamers already know, the recently cyber-attacked Playstation Network service went live once again late on May 14. Now the company fully detailed their “Welcome Back” package on Monday for loyal North American Playstation customers whose information was compromised (among many others) in the hacking incident.

The company has guaranteed non-Playstation Plus members a free month of the top tier service and two months to existing members prior to the network shut down.

The other services to PSN users such as Music Unlimited will also get 30 free days for their subscription and PS Home players will be able to get approximately 100 free virtual items over the next few weeks, which will include an exclusive Home game.

The biggest pieces of the “Welcome Back” package however, are the offers for free full games on the network.

Sony commented in their post that PSN players could download two of the following titles within 30 days of the Playstation Store restoration for free and keep forever: inFAMOUS, Dead Nation, LittleBigPlanet, Wipeout HD including the Fury expansion pack, and Super Stardust HD.

PSP owners will also get their pick of two downloadable games under the same circumstances as regular Playstation 3 players. The game choices include: ModNation Racers, Killzone: Liberation, LittleBigPlanet, and Pursuit Force.

Killzone: Liberation is among the choices users have of free PSP games in the package.

There are a few differences ranging in the packages for European Playstation Network users, such as the inclusion of Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty instead of Super Stardust HD. The PSP games up for grabs however, have no noticeable changes.

Sony specifically thanked the producers of each game for contributing to the package and essentially giving away millions of games for free, the developers include Guerilla Games, Digital Leisure, Media Molecule, and more.

The Playstation Store still remains shut down as of writing this post.

What do you guys think? Is Playstation adequately apologizing with this inclusive package or just throwing bargain bin games at users in hopes of appeasing them? Comment and let us know what you think!
