The highly anticipated first-person shooter game Call of Duty: Black Ops will be releasing on November 9th and to celebrate, video game retailer Play N Trade will host a nationwide tournament for a grand prize of $3,000.
Play N Trade is a new and used video game store franchise that specializes in retro games and systems, as well as newer titles and gear. Call of Duty: Black Ops is the latest installment of the highly successful Call of Duty series of military shooter video games.
According to the Play N Trade website, the nationwide tournament will be broken into two separate pieces: the local brackets and the national competition. The local tournaments will take place on November 20 and the winners from these will go on to the national competition, which will take place on December 4.
The tournament style will be an eight man free-for-all match, with the highest ranked moving on to the national bracket.
Registration for the tournament will be $15 or gamers can pay a $20 entrance fee and receive a special tournament package that includes a limited edition Black Ops beanie, a $5 credit towards the purchase of Black Ops, and a small package of “Gamer Grub,” which appears to be some sort of fruit-flavored snack. According to Play N Trade sources, this package is limited to the first 16 entrants who pay the $20 fee.
