Video Games Live broadcasts to kick off today

The concert event known as Video Games Live will publicly air a recorded performance on Public Broadcasting Service channels in North America, starting on Saturday.

The award-winning Video Games Live began in 2002 and reportedly combines orchestras and choirs to perform music from various video games, according to a PBS press release.

This marks the first televised performance in the history of the event, and will show different music pieces from games such as God of War, Halo, Mario, and Final Fantasy, as performed by the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, according to a Video Games Live press release

Residents in San Bernadino and Sacramento, Calif., Denver, Colo., Tampa, Fla., and Saint Paul, Minn., will be among the first states to see the televised performance on Saturday via their respective PBS stations.

The televised performance will reportedly occur in conjunction with the release of a Video Games Live Blu-ray/DVD and CD package of the performance aired.

The package will reportedly be available to North American fans to purchase exclusively through PBS until November 1, according to a press release on the Video Games Live site.

The performance will be televised in Phoenix, Ariz. on KAET 8. The time slots for the show are:

August 2 at 8:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

August 4 at 12:30 a.m.

August 5 at 3:00 a.m.

It will also be televised in Tucson, Ariz. on KUAT 6. The time slots for the show are as follows:

August 7 at 10:30 p.m.

August 10 at 10:30 p.m.

August 12 at 11:00 p.m.

August 15 at 8:00 a.m.
