The upcoming Phoenix Comicon set for Memorial Day weekend is undoubtedly packed with hundreds of hours of programming for every geek interest, but there’s also a good handful of events for gamers as well. The Pause Button’s own IncreaseBlue has put together a small list of video game panels and events that caught her eye and are worth checking out over the weekend.

AZHP Hosts Tournaments for a Good Cause This Weekend

Arizona Hobbyists Paradise is at it again, and for a good cause too! FrankCastleAZ and AZHP are hosting five video game tournaments on Friday at the Corona Del Sol High School as a fundraiser for its television/film club.

The competitions will be hosted in the Corona Del Sol school’s small gym with an $8 entry fee for all tournaments. According to AZHP creator FrankCastleAZ, more than half of the proceeds will go to the club for new video equipment.  Read the rest of this entry »





AZHP to host gaming at Taiyou Con

The Arizona Hobbyists Paradise crew will kick off 2011 with a slew of tournaments and casual games during January’s Taiyou Con anime convention in Mesa.

AZHP is a community-oriented group that regularly hosts gaming rooms and events throughout the year in Arizona and neighboring states (for more info, see this previous Pause Button post about them). The Taiyou Con convention will take place on January 7-9 at the Hilton Phoenix/East Mesa resort located at 1011 West Holmes Avenue.

The founder of AZHP, commonly known as FrankCastleAZ, released an official list of a variety of tournaments slated to be held over the entire weekend the convention takes place. Read the rest of this entry »





Saboten-con to feature game tournaments in October

The upcoming anime convention in Phoenix, Ariz., known as Saboten-con, will host more than voice actor panels and cosplayer gatherings, it will also feature gaming tournaments!

Once again, Saboten-con will include a hefty gaming room that will be run by the Arizona Hobbyists Paradise when it begins on its new dates of October 1-3. Read the rest of this entry »
