Keith Abbott of Euphoria Gaming
The past year has seen many local groups rise to the occasion and provide a vast array of tournaments for the Arizona gaming community. Keith Abbott, founder of Euphoria Gaming, is no different in this respect and spoke with The Pause Button on the groups’ hopes and plans for 2012.
As Euphoria Gaming plows into 2012 with their Super Marvel Madness finale on Saturday, as well as several planned free tournaments, the group has alot of potential to grow and change within the coming months.
Abbott first founded his own gaming group, Euphoria Gaming, in 2010 in an effort to support and flourish a West Valley gaming scene. He started off by hosting small tournament gatherings at a local shop called GameTag in Litchfield Park. The competitions began to receive good receptions and Abbott decided to pursue more.

Kicking off 2012 proper will be the AZHP hosting tournaments at the Taiyou Con anime convention the first weekend of January.

The event will be taking place on January 6-8 Taiyou Con at the Hilton Phoenix East/Mesa hotel.

DEVASTATION is only a few days away and the event is loaded and ready to go. The Pause Button got the chance to talk to the event coordinator Robb Chiarini (aka Jedirobb), and get some details, as well as thoughts on the upcoming tournament.

The event is set to officially begin on Friday October 7th and continue through Sunday at the Phoenix Convention Center. A multitude of competitions will be held for numerous first-person shooter, fighting, sports, rhythm, and strategy games throughout the weekend.
DEVASTATION recently suffered the loss of Team Sp00ky due to the alleged confiscation of their equipment by Homeland Security. Chiarini confirmed that there are three other stream broadcasters lined up for the convention including LevelUp and local boys Team Haz-mat to run the fighting game shows, with Beyond Gaming to cover the PC side of the competitions. They will broadcast on three separate channels through Twitch.tv: TwitchTV/DEVEVENT, TwitchTV/DEVASTATIONEVENT, and TwitchTV/BeyondGaming. according to the official event website. Earlier in the year Phoenix Comicon gave a vast array of programming for gamers as well as otakus, steampunks, and more. Now with Saboten-Con in only a few days, gamers once again find themselves on the receiving end of a plethora of awesome panels and tournaments to be had at the convention this weekend.

Saboten-Con is an anime convention that will be held at Hilton Squaw Peak Resort in Phoenix on Friday the 30th through Sunday.
School is back in session for most but that hasn’t put a stop to opportunities for Arizona gamers to school each other in upcoming tournaments.
