After all the action of the Hazbat kickoff over the weekend, events keep rolling in for Arizona gamers courtesy of LAN Speed Games and the city of Tempe.

The hometown kids vs. the big city players. That was the scene at this weekends’ Mash Up! event hosted by Button Masherz, which gave way to feisty competition between some of the state’s finest against major players Fanatiq, Knives, and Infrit.
The event held three separate tournaments for Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, King of Fighters XIII, and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Each competition had a cash prize for first and second players, while third place received an Evil Controllers controller. Read the rest of this entry »
August is generally known as one of the more painfully hot months in Arizona, but this year it will be known for some intense competition courtesy of LAN Speed Games and Button Masherz.
Coming this Sunday will be the LSG Champion League of Legends tournament at LAN Speed Games in Peoria. The competition is a follow up to their past one, except this time around the group has been backed by Riot Games with prizes along with a $500 prize pot for the winning team. The local group Arcade Zone Hard Punch (AZHP) made their official debut of their revamped image at last weekends’ Phoenix Comicon. Not only did this provide AZHP Gaming with an opportunity to debut new shirts, layouts, and sponsors, but a chance to partner up with Team Hazmat to make the gaming room more unique than before.

This week offers a nice variation from the steady stream of tournaments and competition for most AZ gamers. Of course Team Hazmat will be holding it down with a continuation of their Hazbats, but the city of Tempe is holding a unique event that’s the perfect blend for every type of geek out there.
DEVASTATION is only a few days away and the event is loaded and ready to go. The Pause Button got the chance to talk to the event coordinator Robb Chiarini (aka Jedirobb), and get some details, as well as thoughts on the upcoming tournament.

The event is set to officially begin on Friday October 7th and continue through Sunday at the Phoenix Convention Center. A multitude of competitions will be held for numerous first-person shooter, fighting, sports, rhythm, and strategy games throughout the weekend.
DEVASTATION recently suffered the loss of Team Sp00ky due to the alleged confiscation of their equipment by Homeland Security. Chiarini confirmed that there are three other stream broadcasters lined up for the convention including LevelUp and local boys Team Haz-mat to run the fighting game shows, with Beyond Gaming to cover the PC side of the competitions. They will broadcast on three separate channels through Twitch.tv: TwitchTV/DEVEVENT, TwitchTV/DEVASTATIONEVENT, and TwitchTV/BeyondGaming. according to the official event website.
