Gaming at a convention. A Pause Button’s inside look into competition at Phoenix Comicon.

This year’s Phoenix Comicon established itself in its new home of the Phoenix Convention Center. Whereas the convention used to be held in the much smaller Mesa Convention Center, the new building provided areas much larger and roomier for programming at the event.

 
 

This translated to large dual gaming rooms set up for more tournaments and casual play hosted by the Arizona Hobbyists Paradise and Howie’s Game Shack, than ever had before. Read the rest of this entry »





Can’t find a tourney? 7 tips to finding gaming competitions

As I have said in an earlier blogpost, gaming competitions can be great fun, but also very difficult to get into. Some gamers, (like myself) find themselves in a position where they want to join a tournament but either 1) can’t find any or 2) can only find tournaments that have that wonderful unspoken requirement that you have to be an elite gamer to compete. Well I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to be a ridiculously awesome gamer, or have to travel three states over to find a good tournament.
