The highly anticipated fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds will officially be released on February 15 in the United States and March 31 in the United Kingdom, Capcom announced on Tuesday.
Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will be the first installment to the series since its popular predecessor, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, debuted in 2000. The game features numerous comic book characters from the Marvel universe as well as popular Capcom video game characters and pits them against each other in tag team fights.
The company made the announcement via its official website, Facebook and Twitter pages, linking users to pre-order pages for the game. Both retailers GameStop and Amazon.com will be selling the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions for $59.99 USD.
Also announced were several pre-order bonuses and special editions for the game. The Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds special edition will retail for $69.99 and includes a steel book casing, a 48-page art/comic book, early access to two downloadable characters Jill Valentine (from Resident Evil 5) and Shuma Gorath (notably from Doctor Strange), and a one-month subscription to Marvel Digital Comics, according to the announcement.
GameStop is also giving a pre-order bonus of two console decals of Wolverine (X-Men) and Ryu (Street Fighter), along with a combo card for Deadpool (X-Force) and Dante (Devil May Cry) that shows move lists for the two.
Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds currently boasts a roster of over 30 characters including She-Hulk, Ryu, Dante, Chris Redfield, Deadpool, Wolverine, Amaterasu, Albert Wesker, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Morrigan and more.
Capcom will likely unveil more characters in the weeks leading up to the games’ release.
